Jim Mattina, born James Emil Mattina, was adored by his loving family and friends. He was a simple man who loved his family and always put family first. This quilt square represents his simplicity and the many roles he had during his life. He will always be the center of our family and a true example of how a loving Husband, Father, and Grandpa should live. He is also a loving Son, Brother, and Uncle which are represented by the hearts sewn into the quilt. The flowers sewn next to the word “Grandpa” were taken from his granddaughter’s clothes. He was ecstatic knowing he was going to be a Grandpa. It filled his heart with so much joy and pride.
Jim lived his life on his own terms and without any regrets. He was a smart, kind, caring, gentle, sensitive, devoted, and loved man who put so much love and thought into everything he did. Because of his sense of humor and positive attitude, he was a fun person to be around, always making everyone laugh. To understand him you would have had to know him. Everything he did, he always did it with love. Jim, the Husband, Father, Grandpa, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend will always live on in all of our hearts and will be missed by everyone he touched during his life.
