Jeffrey Shroyer

When I remember my husband, Jeff, the color blue I chose for this square comes to mind. I miss his sparkling blue eyes that lit up with his smile. I picture him wearing one of his many blue shirts. I fondly recall wonderful trips together enjoying clear blue waters and bright blue skies, and I am reminded of Heaven, where he joyously resides now. This quilt square celebrates his life and loves.

Jeff and I were married for 45 years. He was my best friend and constant companion. We loved traveling together, especially all around our beautiful country and our amazing national parks.

We were blessed with our four children. They all completed college, married their loves, and each have two children. Grandpa absolutely loved times spent with each grandchild, and they brought so much joy to his life. Just the night before he passed, Grandpa enjoyed buying milkshakes and goodies at Hershey’s Chocolate World, loving the delight in our grandkids’ eyes as they enjoyed their treats and fun together.

Jeff taught high school Industrial Arts for 30 years. For years he was also a part-time realtor, counseling many former students with their best interest, rather than his commission, in mind. Many former students lovingly paid their respects at his funeral.

After retirement, Jeff loved volunteering at the local food bank, delivering foods from stores, stocking shelves, and using his remodeling skills.

Jeff was a very caring friend and good listener. He especially touched the lives of some he patiently instructed at the local gun club. He smiles and talked to everyone. Easily striking up conversations with complete strangers.

This was a man who had a big, giving heart, but that heart suddenly and unexpectedly stopped beating on December 30, 2017. It’s comforting to know that, even in death, Jeff’s gifts of tissue, bone, and skin, greatly impacted lives of others. Jeff had so many wonderful qualities, but he knew he was not perfect. However, he believed in the one who is perfect. He knew Jesus Christ as his savior and received the gift of eternal life. I look forward to the day I will see my husband again in Heaven.

Lovingly submitted by his wife, Carol
