This quilt square speaks of the life and interests of the life of John Collins Cavanaugh (1957—2015). He graduated from Stetson University in Deland, Florida (green, gold, and black pin) where he played on the golf team and joined Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (gold and red pin). After graduation, he spent his entire working career at Chubb Insurance (rectangular, gold C pin) and became a member of various retriever clubs (multiple pins). He trained and titled three black Labradors, Rocky, Laina, and Max, as field champion, Amateur Field Champion, and Master Hunter. Then, he returned to playing gold on a regular basis in his late 40s.
John also enjoyed traveling around Europe and Asia with his wife, Cynthia; he occasionally wore a cool pin (such as the Grossglockner pin) in his hat. John and Cynthia liked to take a cable to a mountaintop or to climb to the top of a bell tower to see the view.
