August 29, 1954 – December 24, 2016
Born and raised in Highspire, Pa, John had a deep love for his community. He was a 1972 graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School. Go Rollers! His love for his community led him to coaching baseball and softball teams in the community. He attended Highspire United Methodist Church. After 6 years of serving as a borough councilman, John was elected as Mayor of Highspire. He was in his third and had been mayor for 11 years at the time of his death. John was respected and loved in his community. Once you had the opportunity to meet John, he considered you his friend.
John was always proud to be, what he called himself, a chameleon. He was able to be out riding his motorcycle for a poker run on a Saturday morning and would comfortably be able to dress in a tuxedo that same evening.
John also was a strong supporter of the University of Miami Hurricane, through thick and thin. His love for the “Canes” was passed on his children, Jonathan, Jason, Nikki and Jessica. For John, family was everything. He was also very blessed to be surrounded by a number of lifelong friends.
John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be forever loved, forever missed and forever in our hearts.
