Kelly was a bright, beautiful light in our family. She was just 27 years old when she passed away, but her short life was filled with love, laughter, hard work, creativity, and accomplishment.
Kelly was an artist from the start, and drew pictures on whatever was available, wherever she was.
Growing up she played the clarinet, was catcher on a travel softball team, sang in high school musicals, and was captain of the varsity field hockey team. She worked hard to be good at whatever she did. She received her BA degree in Film, Video and Animation from The Rhode Island School of Design.
She travelled to Japan while in college and saved her money to return a few years later. Kelly was hired as an artist right after graduation by a marketing firm.
Kelly and her older sister were particularly close, and they shared the same sense of humor. Kelly was blessed with twelve loving cousins. Kelly and her two best friends shared a love of art – and loved to laugh.
Her love of dogs is legendary. Our family dog Lizzie and her own dog Balto were her favorites, of course. Kelly also especially loved beautiful butterflies.
We have always been proud of Kelly, but we were especially proud that she chose to be an organ donor. We’re comforted that five lives benefited from her selfless decision.
Many people have said that Kelly was “pure of heart.” She truly was. Now she’s not only our sunshine, she’s our hero.
