This quilt square honors Mike Weintz, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and ultimately – Donor.
He was affectionately called “Renaissance Man” referencing his many interests such as collecting art and antiques, golf memorabilia and wine, his love of US history, photography, brewing beer, locating and eating delicious B-B-Q, his mastery of golf, bowling, Pokemon, and fly fishing.
As an avid golfer he was a member of the Ripon Cup, a Ryder Cup style match played in Ripon, CA and Ripon No. Yorkshire UK every 2 years in alternating countries. This was a fulfilling event in his life resulting in many good matches and many good friends on both sides of the pond.
Fly fishing at Hot Creek Ranch near Mammoth, CA was time well spent with his dad Lee, where the beauty of nature and the battle between man and fish was enjoyed and discussed often. Mike then taught other family members to fly fish, extending the bond with his dad.
The Guinness patch reflects his travels in the US and abroad, his appreciation for a proper pint of Ale, in a proper Pub, enjoyed with family and friends.
After relocating from California to Pennsylvania in 2021, upon renewing his driver’s license, it was important for him to check the donor box so that others would have a chance to appreciate the world and live life to the fullest, as he did.
