Robert Black Jr.

Nov. 11, 1944 – Jan 7. 2012

Bob was a devoted husband, father, step father and a great pap to Zoey whom he adored.

He was a sports writer all his life working in Pittsburgh and then in Harrisburg, PA. He covered many celebrities in the sports world, wrote many travel articles, and also covered horse racing. In Harrisburg he worked for the Patriot News. He created the College Corner which kept readers aware of how former Midstate high school athletes were doing in college. He was awarded the George Heaslip Media Award in 2006 by the Penn State Athletic Conference.

Born in Apollo in 1944, he graduated from Washington Township High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army and then attended the Columbia School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.

He married Marlene in 1998 and loved the Outerbanks. He was an honest, sensitive, compassionate man who will be missed but never forgotten. I love you so much Pap, Zoey.
