The quilt square that was made for Robert is truly the love he had in his short life of 34 years.
The green background is in remembrance of his high school, Monsignor Bonner, which he loved and made many lifetime friends. The four years attending that school were probably the best the best years of his life. The face of his dog, Pokey, is shown because he loved him and took care of him with so much love. The day Pokey died was devastating to him.
Robert’s passion and love in life was playing his Nintendo games. Playing his games was his escape from real life and his personal problems. “Zelda” and “Super Mario” were his favorites.
We chose the picture of Robert in New York City at the Nintendo store. He posed in front of the “Mario” statue. The smile on Robert’s face tells it all. The happiness he felt that day was a joy to see. We wish he had many more days of such happiness, but they never came. His sister and brother got tattoos of Robert’s favorite game characters in honor of him.
