Team Philly cyclist earns bronze at Transplant Games of America

Bill Soloway, heart transplant recipient, won bronze in Cycling at the Transplant Games. He says he wants to send the medal to the family of his hero organ donor.

SALT LAKE CITY (KYW Newsradio) — The competition heated up Saturday at the Transplant Games of America in Salt Lake City, with more swimming, basketball, and a 5K run.

Team Philadelphia’s Bill Soloway, at his second Transplant Games, picked up a bronze medal in cycling on the first day of the competition. It was a long time coming, he said. He came up short at the games two years ago, in hopes of getting a medal to give to the family of the man who gave him a heart.

“It was when I said I’m just going to go out there and have fun and not have that stress on my shoulders. And here it is, my first medal,” Soloway said.
